Sample preparation

The accuracy of analytical results strongly depends on qualified sampling and suitable sample preparation.
Routine sample preparation for rock samples is performed according to detailed operating procedures or customers special requirements and its quality is controlled by a special procedure.

The requirement for sample reception

1. Incoming sample weight depends on kinds of analysis. For example, sample weight should be 50-100 g for spectral analysis, 100-150 g for spectral-gold analysis, 500-1000 g for fire assaying, 50-70 g for chemical and XRF analysis and 200-500 g for coal analysis.

Шинжилгээ Грамм
спектр 20-500
спектрозолотометр 100-150
пробир 500-1000
хими ба рентген флуоресценц 50-70
нvvрсний техник 200-500

2. Sample weight for mineralogical analysis should be 5-15 kg. Heavy concentrates should be enriched and grey-colored with 15-30 g. For determination of bedrocks properties, a geological sketch map should be enclosed.

3. On the samples for petrographical investigation, an area for thin section should be marked. Salt samples for thin section and polished section should be waxed and the sketch map with marked place, where sample is taken and the section should be enclosed to the order sheet.

4. Sample weight for physical and mechanical properties determination of non-ore mineral resources should be more than 5 kg, for complete description - more than 50 kg, and weight for plastering should be enough for preparation of 5 cubes or cylinders with size of 5x5x5 cm3.

5. Sample preparation scheme and distribution coefficient should be enclosed if sample sending institution has not crushing unit.

6. Samples should be delivered in clean cotton bags, parcels or tracing-paper packages with clear labels.

7. An enclosed order sheet and list of samples should be filled up completely (names of analytes, name of minerals or rocks, analytical method etc.) and verified by signature and stamp.

8. In case of keeping duplicates of samples, customers should make notes on the order sheet.
